Alvin J. Wengerd, 76, of 3160 Harrison Rd., Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at his home after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 1, 1944 in Wayne County to the late Joe M. and Lovina (Troyer) Wengerd and married Betty Hochstetler on Oct. 6, 1966. Alvin was a mechanic having retired from IAC of Holmesville after 33 years and he had also owned the former Village Engine in Fredericksburg. Alvin was a member of the Old Order Amish.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty; children, Vernon (Esther) Wengerd of Fredericksburg, Mervin (Barbara) Wengerd of Dalton, Susan (Martin) Mast of the home, Leona (Dennis) Burkholder of Holmesville and Linda (Willis) Mast of Millersburg; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Emanuel (Edna) Wengerd of Millersburg; a brother-in-law, Obed Troyer of Holmesville and a sister-in law, Nettie Wengerd of Apple Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Wengerd and a sister, Verna Troyer.
Services will be Thursday, Feb. 18th at 9:00 a.m. at the Martin Mast Residence, 3144 Harrison Rd., Fredericksburg with Bishop Wayne R. Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery, Prairie Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mast Residence. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
