Alvin Claus Obituary

Alvin Virgil Claus, 93, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at his home near Moreland where he had made his home since 1957.

Alvin was born Jan. 24, 1928 in Lewisville, Monroe County to the late Gilbert and Esther (Christman) Claus and was a 1948 graduate of Lewisville High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 – 1954 and came home and married the former Clara J. Bright on Dec. 10, 1955.  Clara preceded him in death on June 15, 2020.  Alvin retired from the Wooster Brush in 1990 and was a member of the Moreland United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed woodworking, working in the garden and tending to his fruit trees.  Alvin always had a smile and he will be missed.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, Debbie and Doug Snell and Dennis and Sandy Claus of Wooster; grandchildren, Walker and his wife Tyler Claus, Jarrod and his wife Meghan Snell and Jessica Snell; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Aiden, Ellie and Milah Snell and soon to arrive Brynlee and Layten Claus; a sister, Vivian Paulass of Woodsfield and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, grandchildren, Nick Claus and Cassandra and Christina Snell and a sister, Virginia Wilhelm.

Services will be Monday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Moreland United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.  Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the church.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to Moreland United Methodist Church, 138 E.
