William H. "Bill" Shook, age 88, of Seville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 23, 1936, to Harold and Ruth Helen Shook, Bill was a lifelong resident of Seville and deeply devoted to his community. He graduated from Seville High School in 1954 before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force.
Bill worked as a skilled machinist and retired from Empire Corporation. A man of many interests and commitments, he was a long-time member and Past President of the Izaak Walton League, Medina Chapter, where he shared his passion for conservation. He also served his community as a past member of the Seville Guilford Volunteer Fire Department and officiated high school football for 20 years as a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He was known for his quick wit, love of telling jokes, and remarkable ability to fix just about anything. His dedication to Seville was evident in his consistent attendance at council meetings, always staying informed about local affairs.
On August 17, 1985, Bill married his beloved wife Tamara, with whom he shared nearly 40 wonderful years of marriage.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Helen Shook, and his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Martha Shook.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Tamara; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Diana Shook; niece and nephews, Jill (Greg) Pepper, Mark (Emily) Shook, Mike (Beth) Shook, Steven (Cathy) Shook, and Kevin (Megan) Shook; and his step-daughter, Natalie (Timothy) Bennett.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Independence Village Avon Lake Memory Care and CorsoCare Hospice for their compassionate care and loving support of Bill and his family during his final days.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Seville Presbyterian Church, 101 Center St, Seville, with burial to follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
