William Melvin "Bill" Rhoads

William "Bill” Rhoads, 77, of Wooster, passed away after a period of declining health on January 6, 2022 at Wooster Community Hospital.

Bill was born on January 30, 1944 in Takoma Park, Maryland to Melvin and Eileen (Fetzer) Rhoads.  Bill graduated from Norwayne High School in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart, Marge Winkler and they were married for 58 years.

Bill worked for Seiberling Tire and Rubber for 17 years before moving with his family to Au Train, Michigan where they owned the Au Train Grocery and Motel.  Bill and Marge returned to Wayne County in 1987.  Bill enjoyed returning to the Upper Peninsula for hunting trips and visiting with friends.  Before retiring, he worked for Ports Petroleum.  Bill loved collecting knives and Carnival glass and enjoyed traveling with Marge to different Carnival glass auctions.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and 4-H activities.  His favorite days were Sundays when his kids and grandkids would come over for football games and movies.

Surviving is his wife, Marge; is two children, Angie and Steve (Barb); grandchildren, Ellen (Alex), Elizabeth, Andrea (Nate) Grace (Tyler) and Ben; siblings, Barb Johnson, Terri Click, John (Lee) Rhoads and Karen (Fred) Shriner and a brother-in-law, Art Berlin.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gordon Rhoads and Diane Berlin and brothers-in-law, Kenny Click and Dick Johnson.

Services will be Wednesday, January 12th at the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church, 8530 Fulton Road, Sterling with Ministers of the church officiating.  Burial will be in the Apostolic Church Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday, January 11th from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston and on Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:15 p.m. at the church.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County 4-H Youth Development Fund, c/o OSU Extension Office, 428 W.
