William M. “Bill” Armentrout, 64, of Creston, passed away at home on Monday, July 18, 2022 after a lengthy illness.
Bill was born on Jan. 4, 1958 in Wadsworth to the late Glen C. and Elizabeth (Kebeller) Armentrout and was a 1976 graduate of Norwayne High School. He retired from Apple Creek Developmental Center after 30 years of service and later worked for Elmcroft of Medina for 12 years. Bill faithfully and proudly served the Creston Community for 12 years as Mayor from 2007 – 2019 and had previously served on the Creston Council for 2 years. During his time as Mayor, Bill loved overseeing the Annual Labor Day Car Show which he looked forward to every year. Bill enjoyed playing euchre, collecting Marilyn Monroe and the Wizard of Oz memorabilia and was a huge car enthusiast. He loved his friends and he was known for his love and care of his family. Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor and his style for “It’s all about appearance” he would say.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Rebecca Blough of Sterling, Helen Gray of Creston and Elizabeth “Andy” Armentrout of Creston as well as nieces, nephews and his dog, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Glenna “Tuddie” Wilkinson, nephew Jason Gray and his faithful companions, Marilyn and Molly.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 25th at 3:00 p.m. at Maple Mound Cemetery in Creston. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44619.
Andy extends her deepest appreciation to the Creston Maintenance Department and Police Department for all they did over the years for Bill and a special thanks to “his son” Jason Flory for all his many acts of kindness.
