Virgil Verne Kimble, 89, of Creston, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at Burbank Parke Care Center.
Verne was born on June 20, 1936 in Hancock County, OH to Virgil and Mildred (Spacht) Kimble and graduated from Westfield High School in 1954. On Aug. 19, 1955, he married Marjorie Louise Garner and Marge preceded him in death on May 23, 2023. Verne retired from Underwood Dodge and Chrysler in Wooster and had previously worked for 27 years at Leohr’s in Chippewa Lake. In his retirement, Verne worked at Maibach Tractor and repaired and sold bicycles as well as lawn mowers. He had served on the Creston Board of Public Affairs, served on the Creston Fire Dept., was a member of Wayne County REACT, was a member of the Wayne County Ramblin Rods and had helped with the Ox Roast in Creston for many years. Verne was a member of Creston Moose Lodge 1224 and attended Creston-Canaan United Methodist Church. He and Marge enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida and Verne is remembered for always taking the time to help anyone with their car repairs.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Susie Kimble, John and Dottie Kimble, Vance and Kelly Kimble and Nolan Kimble; son-in-law, Jeff Cleckner; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a sister, Karen and her husband Richard Stoll and nieces and nephews.
Verne was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, daughter, Diana Cleckner in 2020, son David Kimble in 1961, his parents and brothers, Russel, Richard, Duane and infant brother Joe Eldon.
Services will Monday, Sept. 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Kimmy Farone and John Murray officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville. Friends may call Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
