Verla M. Beaver, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017 at her home at West View Healthy Living in Wooster.
Verla was born Aug. 19, 1919 in Youngstown to the late Clyde J. and Esther (Fullerton) Bricker and attended Creston High School. On Sept. 6, 1936 she married Paul E. Beaver who preceded her in death on June 14, 1995 and together in 1940 they established Beaver Meats in Smithville. Paul and Verla raised their family in the Smithville community later moving to Wooster and from 1973 -2013, Verla spent the winter months and later resided in the Ft. Myers area where she was a member, office volunteer and usher at Cypress Lake United Methodist Church. She had been active in the Continental Women’s Club of Ft. Myers, the El Rio Golf League and volunteered at Southwest Hospital in Ft, Myers. She had also volunteered at Wooster Community Hospital. She was a past member of the Order of White Shrine and the Jewels as well as the Jesterettes. Verla enjoyed playing golf and cards but her greatest joy was her family which she was very proud of. She will be remembered for her love, care and support given to her family and she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Richard and Jackie Beaver of Smithville. Beverly and Jack Crafton of Wooster and Ted and Janet Beaver of Wooster; grandchildren, Sherri Habansky, Greg (Stacy) Beaver, Stephanie Klein, Beth Redman, Christen (Tim) Ritchey and Jeff Beaver and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and brothers, Clyde, Maynard and Kenneth Bricker.
A celebration of Verla’s life will be held Saturday, March 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel at West View Healthy Living, 1715 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster with Chaplin Kirk Fairhurst officiating. Friends will be received following the service. A family interment service will be held at Wooster Cemetery.
