Valerie Jean Thompson, 70, of Mansfield and formerly of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield after a period of declining health.
Val was born on March 4, 1954 in Lodi to the late Arthur and Janet (Schorle) Maibach and was a 1972 graduate of Norwayne High School. On March 30, 1974 she married Thomas Paul Thompson and she and Tom had operated Tom-Val Holstein Farm. For 26 years she operated her own home cleaning service and in 2019 Val and Tom moved from Wooster to Mansfield. She was a member of the Blachleyville Church of Christ. Val enjoyed flower gardening, watching the Cleveland Guardians and baking cookies. She is remembered for her up to date calendar that recorded birthdays, deaths and anniversaries and for the many Christmas and Birthday cards she sent.
Surviving is her husband, Tom; daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Dan Lunsford of Mansfield, Traci and Clint Carmony of Wooster and Kelly and Steve Smith of Ashland; grandchildren, Olivia Lunsford, Alex Graham, Logan, Morgan and Ethan Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jim Thompson of Wooster and brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudy and Barb Maibach and Brian Maibach and Shauna Ruggles of Creston and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandsons, Jacob Carmony and Dylan Smith and her parents.
Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastors Dan Kirtlan and Matt Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Church Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blachleyville Church of Christ, 8482 Blachleyville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
