Todd Joseph Napaver, 53 passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday January 31st, after a brief and courageous battle with glioblastoma, leaving behind a life rich in adventures, connection, unforgettable memories and stories.
Though Todd spent over 20 years living in Australia, he was a lifetime Clevelander at heart. Todd grew up in Olmsted Falls, OH where he attended Olmsted Falls High School and played on the varsity baseball team. Todd would continue his academic and athletic careers first at the College of Wooster and later at Baldwin Wallace. He would later return to school at Kent State University where he received his Master’s Degree in Education. Todd spent his early years in teaching and taught middle school at Brunswick and Olmsted Falls preceded by an internship in Australia where he fell in love with country. Todd returned to Australia to join the Physical Activity Project Team at BluEarth Foundation, the Director of Victorian Blue Light Bicycle Camp and eventually became a tutorial software developer for universities. Despite being so far away, Todd always made it a priority to stay in touch with family and friends in the States. In typical Todd fashion, he would often surprise the family by showing up unannounced at holiday gatherings or in special times of need. Todd always believed everyone was welcome—there was always an open invitation to Australia, whether he had known you for 30 seconds or 30 years.
Todd was an easy going spirit who loved life and enjoyed having fun. He had the warmest of smiles and the slightest spark of mischievous in his eyes which made him a joy to be around. He was a kid at heart which made him a favorite among the students he taught.
Todd loved the great outdoors. In his spare time he enjoyed long bike rides, hiking, off roading in his Jeep and tormenting the neighborhood with his water balloon slingshot. He chased down a childhood dream by earning his pilot’s license where he left a behind a clean flying record – smooth takeoffs, in flight jokes and pants wetting landings. Todd could also often be found having fun at the racetrack with his two whippets, Matchbox and Delilah, who held a special place in his heart.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday February 6th from 10am – 2pm at The Aviator Cleveland, 20920 Brookpark Rd. Cleveland, OH 44135. All are welcome.
Todd is survived by his father, Joe Napaver (Amy); brothers Kevin Napaver (Victoria), Brodie Napaver, Luke Napaver (Kristen), Jordan Rupp (Jimmy), Jesse Ebert (Kaley); and his beloved nephews and nieces, Arnold, Griffen, Axel, Maddie, Josie and Emma . He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Napaver (2021). In addition to his immediate family, Todd leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins and countless lifelong friends
Chewie, we’re home.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local youth baseball organization in Todd’s memory.
