Thomas Henry Arcy, 86, of Creston, passed away at home on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia and Cancer.
Tom was born on Jan. 22, 1939, in Dearborn, MI and was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Kolasa) Arcy. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and graduated from Dearborn High School and Ferris State University. He later received his master’s degree and his PhD from the University of Michigan. Tom had been a teacher, a high school principal and a Professor of Vocational Education at the University Iowa and the University of Houston where he retired. Tom was a Ham Radio operator, had been a small engine airplane pilot and had enjoyed fishing and sailing. He loved to watch the Rubber Ducks games and spend time at Canal Park. Tom was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Help Christian Parishes.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Sue (Scarberry) Arcy who he married on May 19, 1990; his children and their spouses, Daniel P. and Debra Arcy, Amy K. and Iqbal Atcha and Matthew S. and Liqaya Arcy; step-daughter, Cheryl and James “Smitty” Porr; grandchildren, Christopher, Kathryn, Kimberly, Quinn and Piper and great-grandchildren, Mason and Hailey; a brother, Jerry and his wife Susan Arcy; a sister, Nancy Pulley and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Father Ed Suszynski. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Tom will be interred at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton, IL. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a reception at Tom and Sue's home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
