Theresa Marie Chmura passed away on May 18, 2026.
Theresa was born on January 5, 1950, in Cleveland, OH to John and Emily Glodich.
Theresa consistently demonstrated a strong sense of family, faith, and community. Theresa married her next-door neighbor, Dave, with whom she spent 48 years together raising their three children. Theresa was a long-time parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, served on the Chippewa Township Zoning Commission, and worked as poll worker during local and national elections.
Theresa valued learning and knowledge, earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. For over two decades, Theresa worked at the Wayne County Schools Career Center as an instructor of business and technology. Even after retirement, Theresa wanted to be involved in helping students to learn and could be found in the classroom as a substitute teacher for Chippewa Township.
Known for her love of baking and gardening, Theresa will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Feeding her family and friends was Theresa’s love language and she made cakes and favorite family recipes for her loved ones’ birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David J. Chmura, parents John and Emily Glodich, father and mother-in-law Edward and Johanna Chmura, and brothers-in-law Edward F. Chmura, Jr. and Rick Steimle, Sr.; she is survived by her son, Michael; daughters, Catherine (Ryan) Miller, Deborah (Gene) Morris; grandchildren Nathaniel, Kevin (Becky) Morris; great grandchildren, Bryson, Landen, Haliana, Jaxson, and Owen; sisters Margie (Stan) Bartkiewicz and Mary Steimle; brother, John (Rosanna) Glodich; sister-in-law Paula Chmura; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Theresa’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. To celebrate her life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:00 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown, OH, 44230. Visitation will be held in the vestibule of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church starting at 10:00 am.
