Skip Wheeler, 85, of West Salem formerly of Medina, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Hospice Center in Medina following a period of declining health.
Born Steward F. Wheeler in Alum Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late French A. and Elsie M. Clark. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1949 – 1952 and retired from Ford Motor Co. after 30 years of service. Skip had made his home in the Medina area for most of his life and was a member of U.A. W. Local 1250 . He was an avid Harley Davidson Rider and enjoyed watching sporting events on the television.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Marilyn M. Maxwell; son, Rick (Sue) Wheeler of Lorain; daughter, Deb Chrapowicki of Millersburg; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maxine and Christina.
Military honors and interment services will be held Friday, July 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Friends will be received and may gather from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston, OH.
