Stephen Wendell Brislinger, Sr.

Stephen W. “Skipper” Brislinger, Sr., 72, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.

He was born in Akron on Dec. 24, 1950 to the late John and Catherine (Bergman) Brislinger and graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1970.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 – 1972 having been a Rescue Air Crewman on the USS Oriskany.  On Feb. 24, 1983 he married Margaret Crosby Zickefoose and she survives.  Steve loved Astronomy, dabbling with electronics, cars, Coca Cola and his dogs.  In the service, he learned to throw stars and he could throw playing cards and they would stick in the wall, which always amazed family and friends.

Surviving is his wife, Margaret; son, Stephen Brislinger Jr., of Fredericksburg; step-children, Michael Zickefoose of Wooster, Melody (Doug) Wilkes of Wooster and Mark Zickefoose of Carrollton, GA and granddaughters, Mackenzie Wilkes  and Hailey Wilkes.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Paul and James.
