Seth Daniel Canter

Seth Daniel Canter, 43, of Wooster, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Seth was born on Nov. 9, 1981 in Akron to Kenneth and Rebecca (Packard) Canter and was a 2000 graduate of Wooster High School. He was a mechanical engineer at Forging Equipment Solutions in Medina.  On Oct. 18, 2008 he married the love of his life, Christine A. Dawson and they were blessed with their two daughters, Daphne and Delaney.

To know Seth meant you knew he lived his life to the fullest; having enjoyed traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. When he set his mind to something, you better have considered it done. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns Fan, always rooting them on despite their not so great records. He was a best friend to all, and his spirit was a generous one. He very much enjoyed a good gathering, he loved bringing people together and making a fun memory. His wife and girls were his greatest blessings and he loved his dogs, Reggie, Millie and Lilo and the family cat, Ziggy.

Surviving is his wife, Christine; his daughters, Daphne and Delaney; his father, Dr. Ken Canter of Strasburg; brother, Jason Canter of Wooster, sister and brother-in-law, Joni and Justin Fitch of Ravenna; his grandmother, Donna Canter of Sterling; special “parents”, Michael and Lori Ports of Akron; brothers by choosing and their wives, Matt and April Ports and Adam and Julia Speelman and many friends and extended family.

Seth was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Packard; grandparents, Bob and Joyce Packard, Lester Canter, and adopted brother, Adam Ports.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 24th from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.  A private funeral service will be held on Saturday with burial following at Burbank Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
