Samuel A. Hatten, 94, of Chloe, WV and formerly of Creston and Killbuck, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home in Millersburg after a brief period of declining health.
Sam was born June 18, 1924 in Fort Gay, WV to the late Philip and Lucy (Bartram) Hatten and served in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1943-1945. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the VFW in Killbuck. Sam loved to dance and have fun and he truly loved his grandkids.
Surviving are his children, Sharon Spaw of Cincinnati, Neal Hatten of Brinkhaven, Ron (Gina) Hatten of Wooster and Bruce Hatten of Creston; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren,3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman “Jeff” (Betty) Hatten of Creston; a sister, Sharon “Sis” Yost of Chloe, WV; many nieces and nephews and step-children, Robert Carpenter, William Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, Brenda Radcliff, Kathy Zenkert and Kimberly Jewell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula and brothers, Philip and George Hatten and an infant brother Billy.
Services will be Saturday, Jan. 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Hatten Cemetery in Pritchard, WV. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
