Sammy A. Bolen Sr.

Sammy A. Bolen, Sr., 76, of Creston, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Akron General Medical Center.

Sam was born June 13, 1942 in Creston to the late Woodrow and Ruth (Smith) Bolen and was a 1960 graduate of Norwayne High School. He married Joyce Fry on July 27, 1977 and she preceded him in death on July 11, 2006. He retired from Rexroth Corp. in Wooster and attended Rittman Community Free Will Baptist Church. Sam enjoyed fishing, camping, playing games and cards and spending time with family.

Surviving are his children, Shellie (Tim) Yoder, Daren (Diane) Bolen, Holley (Ken) Light, Jeff (Mary Jo) See, Tina (Mickey) Thames, Ruth (Mike) Chataignier and Sammy (Malinda) Bolen; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Chuck Bolen and Mike Bolen; a sister, Peggy Pumphrey and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two grandchildren and a brother, Gary Bolen.

Services will be Saturday, June 30that 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. John Castle officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
