Ronald Richard “Skip” Stutz, 81, of Creston passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1940 at Calmoutier in Holmes County to the late Albert H. and Grace Belle (Malcuit) Stutz. Skip graduated from Northwestern High School in 1958 where he played baseball and was on the State Championship Team. On Nov. 23, 1961 he married Mary Ann Schafrath and she survives. He had retired from Rawiga Country Club and had previously worked at Rubbermaid, Inc. Skip was a member of the Ohio Bottle Club and had served on the Democratic Central Committee for Canaan Township. He was an avid Ohio State Football and Cleveland Indians fan and was active in coaching Youth Baseball and Girls Softball in Creston. In 1993 he started and coached the first Norwayne Girls Fast Pitch Softball Team and for over 20 years he played softball on mostly the Rubbermaid team. Skip loved going to his grandkids sporting event and following Norwayne teams and he was an avid gardener having enjoyed sharing his produce with neighbors and friends. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann; children, Thomas (Linda) Stutz of Magnolia, TX, Richard Stutz of Taylors, SC, Brian (Suzy) Stutz of Little River, SC and Kelly (Rick) May of Creston; 9 grandchildren, Joshua, Sierra and Josiah Stutz, Amber (Stephen) Mansfield, Brittany (Joshua) Gupton, Caleb and Daniel Stutz and Logan and Madison May and 3 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Aaron and Canaan Gupton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, and brothers, Martha Stutz, Nevin Stutz, Roman Stutz and Bernadetta Zeigler.
Services will be Wednesday, 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm. at the funeral home.
