Ronald L. “Skip” Hartong, 76, of Creston died unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 12, 2017 at his home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1941 in Atwater to the late Lester and Beulah (Kreighbaum) Hartong and was a graduate of Seville High School. He had been a truck driver having retired from Republic Waste and was currently driving for Amos’ Hauling. Skip was a member of Local #92 and had raced stock cars in his younger years. He always enjoyed working on his cars and trucks and playing cards and gambling.
Surviving are his children, Craig Hartong of New Franklin; and Kelly (Robert) Solkoski of Jackson; grandchildren, Derryck and Cody Hartong and Zoie Solkoski; his former wife and friend JoAnn (Rastorfer) Hartong of Creston and a brother, Robert Hartong of Seville.
He was preceded in death by a brother Dick and sisters, Penny Glover, Dorothy Crottinger and Mary Kiddey.
