Robert Vernon Strine

January 10, 1931 — December 29, 2020

Mount Eaton

Dad has passed away. Robert Vernon Strine, formerly of Mt Eaton, left his pain and weariness behind to join Mom, his best friend, Tuesday, December 29, 2020. He leaves behind his boys, Paul and Mark and Leah and Tammy and his furry friends, Booty and Buster.  He is survived by his brother, Orlo Strine and his sister, Rita (Larry) Geren. He is predeceased by his mother and father,  Viola and Joseph Strine. Born January 10, 1931 in Fredericksburg, Dad has lived a long life. He was married to Mom, Lucinda Mae Rickett, on July 31, 1955. Dad could do a lot of things. He worked for the Woostèr City Schools for 30 years. He liked working with his hands. If you were ever at the house, you would have seen his many paintings or his fabulous scroll saw creations. He was proud of them, especially of his wall length mural of his beloved family farm. Dad was a member of the “greatest generation.”  He graduated from Congress High School in 1950, having excelled in baseball and basketball. He loved the old days. He met Mom when she was a teacher at Homerville High School and they spent 59 years together. They enjoyed the small town rural life. Dad was beloved by the congregation of Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church and the family extends deep gratitude to the pastors for support and peace.  One more thing. Dad was a big Ohio State fan. He faithfully followed the Cleveland Indians through thick (lately) and Browns (mostly) thin. He was a fan of former Indians second baseman, Jason Kipnis.   We would watch games with him sometimes. And other times, maybe “Archie Bunker”, Joey and Rory and Everyone Loves Raymond. Dad we miss you already, but we couldn’t hang on anymore and we have to let you go. Take care. We love you, your Boys.

Services will be Sunday, Jan. 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Rev. Darcy Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at Fredericksburg Eastside cemetery.  Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.  Any donations can be made to Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church.  Thank you to LifeCare Hospice and Glendora Care Center for immeasurable help.
