Obituary:
Robert Leonard Dean, 79, of Creston, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a period of declining health.
Bob was born March 6, 1939 in Wayne, WV to the late Byron and Stella (Insco) Dean and attended Rittman High School where he pursued his passion for basketball. On Dec. 1, 1956 he married the love of his life, Lucy (Mayberry) Dean and they shared nearly 62 wonderful years together. Devoted to providing for his family, he retired from the former Ohio Boxboard in Rittman after 34 years of hard work. Bob enjoyed gardening, woodworking, home improvement projects and a love for classic cars. He loved to support and be involved in his children’s many activities from sports, cheerleading, drama, horses and ballet to ballroom dancing. In his later years, he and his wife found great enjoyment in traveling to Amish Country where he helped choose fabrics for Lucy’s beautiful quilt projects. "Bob was an extraordinary husband and dad who poured his heart into his family. The most loving, strong & selfless man his loved ones will ever know."
Surviving are his wife, Lucy; daughters, Alana (Jeffery) Hanzie of Creston, Rhonda Carpenter of Wadsworth, Teresa (Edi) Iacuzzi of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and Lisa (Robert) Taggart of Palmetto, FL; granddaughters, Jessica (Joe) Leonard of Strongsville, Julia (Dan) Workman of Massillon, Angela Carpenter and Anna Carpenter of Wadsworth, Vanessa (Nate) Butcher and Amy (Matt) Rettig of Smithville and grandson, Matteo Iacuzzi of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; great-grandchildren, Colin and Logan Workman, Zachary and Bryce Butcher and Ashley and Alyssa Rettig; daughter-in-law, Betty Dean of Wooster; his brother, Larry (Dianne) Dean of Bradenton, FL and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert James Dean; son-in-law, Kirk Carpenter; great-granddaughter, Amber Rettig and sisters, Edna Hibner, Lorraine Owens and Irene Thomas.
Friends may call Saturday, Oct. 6th from 5-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. A private family service and interment will be held on Sunday.
