Robert J. Cochrell, 87, of Burbank, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018.
He was born Oct. 27, 1930 in Lodi to the late Ellis and Ethel (Martin) Cochrell and was a 1948 graduate of Burbank High School. On Nov. 3, 1951 he married Carol E. Kline and together they worked side by side operating the family farm and raising a wonderful family. Stewardship of God’s land was Bob’s calling and he was engaged in farming the family farm all of his life. His children and grandchildren worked by his side on tasks that kept the farm vital and productive. Bob’s gifts of strength and generosity, his work ethic and his love for the land will live on in his family. He was proud to provide employment to over 100 individuals who worked on the Cochrell farm and he leaves behind a great legacy. Bob put his faith and trust in the Lord at an early age and he spent his life following His guidance and faithfully serving Him. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Rittman. Beside working and being with his family, Bob enjoyed making maple syrup in the spring time of the year.
Surviving are his wife Carol of 66 years; his children and their spouses, Ann and Bud Olszewski and Robert E. and Jan Cochrell; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Danny) Fatheree, Josh (Kristin) Olszewski, Kim (Scott) Charton, Kelly (Dave) Hassenzahl, Tim (Katie) Cochrell, Aaron (Stephenie) Cochrell and Ross (Megan) Cochrell and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James W. in 1973 and his sister, Lucille Hess.
Memorial services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church in Rittman with Pastor Bud Olszewski officiating. A private family burial will be held prior to services at Burbank Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Grace Brethren Church for the Alzheimer’s Association or for Hospice, 44 S. First St., Rittman, OH 44270. The Cochrell family is grateful for all the prayers and support during Bob’s illness and his passing.
