Richard T. Metheney

Richard T. Metheney, 85, of Creston, passed away at his home on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 after a period of declining health.

He was born Oct. 4, 1935 in Clay, WV to the late John and Gay (Dawson) Metheney.  He was first married to the former Kathleen Marks and later on Dec. 7, 1973 he married Betty Hackworth and she preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2007.  Richard retired from King Drilling in Seville and had made his home in the Creston area since 1951.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a life member of the Farmer’s Sportsmen Club in Canaan.

Surviving are his 4 children, Brenda Watts of Rittman and Steve Metheney, Sarah Reber and John Metheney all of Creston; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his former wife, Kathleen Sohar, son-in-law, Willie Watts, brothers, Gerald, Edgar, Lawrence, Carl and Gilbert and sisters, Vestie, Emma and Faye.
