Richard Wayne “Dick” Crow, 67, of Monticello, GA, formerly of Creston, died peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA. Dick was born Nov. 28, 1948 in Ravenna to Edward and Fannie Crow and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he was a member of the Seabees. He retired from Yellow Freight having been a truck driver and had made his home Creston prior to moving to Georgia 18 years ago. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6686 in Eatonton, GA, Creston American Legion Post 497, Disabled American Veterans, Creston Moose Lodge 1224, Eagles Lodges in Wadsworth and Atlanta and the Elks Lodge in Eatonton. Dick enjoyed fishing, traveling, hanging with the guys, shopping and yard sales and was always working and busy. Surviving are his wife Joan whom he married April 25, 2005; daughter, Kim and Dale Poling and their son Ryan of Wadsworth; son, Daniel Crow and Sarah McDaniel of Riverside, CA; 3 step-children, Chuck and Becka Herrick and their son CJ; Clint and Kathy Herrick and their children, Alexis and Brandon and Rhonda Herrick and Cody Smith and their children Deirdre and Dakoda all of Georgia; 5 brothers, Gary and Ginny Crow of Creston, Dennis and Peggy Crow of Marion, Robert and Pat Crow of Stow, David Crow of Columbus, IN and Carl Crow of Yuma, AZ; 2 sisters, Jo and Ryan Weston and Jill Hall and Tim of Marion and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry, Bill and Ronald. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
