Rex Allen Young of Sterling, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024 which was his 75 birthday.
Rex was born on Sept. 20, 1949 in Lodi to the late Nester Sr. and Laura (Shane) Young and was a 1968 graduate of Norwayne High School. On Oct. 14, 1967 he married Carol Jane Garrison and they made their home in Sterling where they raised their family. Rex worked for W.G. Dairy Supply in Creston for 18 years and was the manager of Sterling Farm Equipment for 28 years until his retirement in 2018. He was a member of West Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of Wayne County Farm Council. Rex loved sports, especially baseball, and he enjoyed playing in the Trading Post NFL Football League.
Surviving is his wife, Carol; his children their spouses, Dawn and Tuffy Schriber of Creston, Amy and Dan Fugate of West Salem and Bradley and Michele Young of Sterling; 7 grandchildren and spouses, Nick and Brie (Dalton) Fugate, Mitchell Knieriem, Haylee (Fugate) and Garrett Boley, Lane Knieriem, Jaret Fugate, Wesley Schriber and Fiancée Darby Minor, and Dylan Young; a great-grandson, Colt Boley; a sister, Joan Shrout of Rittman and a brother, Nester and Pam Young of Burbank.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Sept. 28th at 11:00 a.m. at West Hill Baptist Church in Wooster with Pastor Zack Swift and Rev. Eric Fairhurst officiating. Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 27th from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. A private interment service will be held at Zion Church Cemetery near Sterling. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Life, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
