Rex Lowell Mairs

Rex Lowell Mairs, 82, of Wooster, died Sunday evening, May 3, 2020 at Smithville-Western Care Center after a period of declining health.

Rex was born Sept. 13, 1937 in Wooster to the late Lowell and Lena (Wharton) Mairs and was a 1955 graduate of Shreve High School.  On June 22, 1958 he married Zandra M. Plymire and she preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2019.  He was in the trucking business all of his life and was a member of Wooster Church of the Nazarene. He had made his home on Heyl Road for many years and he and Zandra enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are his children, Steve (Cindy) Mairs, Rodney Mairs and Denise (Michael) Internoscia; grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Kokinda, Scott Mairs and Rick (Melissa) Mairs; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roberta (Roger) Hartman; brothers-in-law, Gary Plymire, Dave (Sandy) Plymire and Chuck Swysgood and nieces and nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Zandra and a sister, Deloris Swysgood.

Graveside services will be Saturday, May 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Plain Lutheran Church Cemetery, 4830 Blachleyville Rd., Wooster, OH.  There will be no calling hours and Murray Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
