Phyllis Elaine Woodward, 83, of Burbank, passed on to her heavenly home on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness.
Phyllis was born on Feb. 8, 1941 in Lodi to George and Lillian (Massie) Ramsier and was a 1959 graduate of Norwayne High School. As a LPN, she had worked at Wooster Hospital until becoming the Volunteer Coordinator at Apple Creek Developmental Center where she retired from. She was a faithful member of the Highland Road Church of God and a member of the Wooster Moose, the Wooster Eagles and the Wooster American Legion Auxiliary. Phyllis was a woman who was always on the go. She volunteered for Habitat, traveled to Haiti on Mission Trips to erect a playground that she had gotten donated from Burger King in Wooster, donated over 25 gallons of blood through the Red Cross, worked on Presidential campaigns and the countless acts of kindness and service to others were many. Phyllis was a season ticket holder for the Cleveland Indians and a proud fan of the Cavaliers and the Browns. One of her great memories was helping coach the Maxwell Softball Team in Burbank that won several area tournaments and championships.
Surviving are her sons, Ron and his wife Kim Woodward of Rittman and Tony Woodward of Wooster; grandchildren, Ryan Woodward, Jakeb Woodward, Megan Ramsey Woodward, Marissa and her husband Travis Ramsey, Andrew Woodward, Thomas and his wife Gail Torres and Matthew and his wife Liz Torres; great-grandchildren, Oliver Kain, Sidney Ramsey, Grant Ramsey and Rita Torres; her sister, Jan Wharton of Wooster; her former husband, Jim Woodward of Wooster and nieces and nephews and many, many friends including Shirley.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Andrea Woodward, her parents, brothers, Gary and Eddie Ramsier and nephew, Shannon Wharton
Services will be Monday, Nov. 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastors Josh Chaffin and Mark McCord officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 17th from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
