Peggy Higgins

Margaret Lynn “Peggy” Higgins, 75, of Apple Creek, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Wooster Community Hospital after a brief period of failing health.

Peggy was born on March 31, 1951, in Hopkinsville, KY to Robert and Helen (Sycke) Lakin and was a 1969 graduate of Smithville High School. On Aug. 22, 1969, she married the love of her life, Gary Wayne Higgins and together they shared nearly 57 wonderful years together. Peggy had worked for over 20 years at Solid Oak Furniture near Apple Creek and was a member of Radiant Life Church in Orrville where she had enjoyed singing in the choir. Peggy never missed a grandkid’s school or sporting event and she always loved entertaining family. She was an excellent cook and was always the best gift giver who loved everybody.

Surviving is her husband, Gary; sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Jan Higgins of Wooster and Troy and Kristen Higgins of Orrville; her six grandsons, Garrett and his wife Sarah Higgins, Mason Higgins, Lucas Higgins who she shared a birthday with, Samuel Higgins, Braeden Higgins and Ian Higgins; a new great-grandson, Nolan Higgins; a sister, Marsha and her husband Tony Looney of Orrville and many friends including special friend, Shirley Simonson who she had worked for.

Services will be Monday, July 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Davis officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday form 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
