Peggy Coen

Peggy Coen of Creston, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Danbury of Wooster after a period of declining health.

She was born in Elana, West Virginia on Oct. 14, 1928 to Howard F. and Mabel (May) McClain and married Cluster “Cub” Coen on July 12, 1945.  Cub preceded her in death on March 24, 2016.  Peg served as the Executive Director of the American Cancer Society in Wooster which was a job she truly loved and she enjoyed her large gardens that she and Cub planted over the years.

Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Pat Coen; granddaughter and her husband, Dr. Barbara and Stuart Gordon; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Madeline, sisters, Jean Hudson and Glennis “Cricket” Conley and a brother, John McClain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Judy Rodan; a sister,  Cathy Wertz and a brother, Dale McClain.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.  Friends will be received immediately following the services.  A private family burial was held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Seville.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
