Paul C. Shue

October 7, 1942 — May 6, 2024

Creston

Paul C. Shue of Creston passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on May 6th, 2024 following a short period of declining health. Born October 7, 1942, Paul was raised in a rambunctious family that included doting aunts and charming uncles who had an influential tendency for fun and mischief. He learned important life skills in this environment like hunting, fixing things, pranks and drag racing in the streets of Wadsworth. After graduating from Wadsworth High School in 1960, Paul joined the U.S. Army eventually becoming a jumpmaster and settling in with B Co. 2nd BN 11 th Special forces (Airborne). He excelled in this setting with his daredevil nature and practical jokes, creating stories and forging friendships that stood the test of time. Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane did not hold his interest forever and in 1968 he met Linda  Allen from Creston who became his bride and together they got down to the real mission in life of creating a home and family. The next decade brought about Sam, Ben and Barb. Paul worked hard to forge his company, from early morning to late at night; he could design, build or repair just about anything. He also found time to help neighbors and friends who would come home to find loose shingles replaced or a leaning gutter fixed. He played just as hard as he worked, favoring fast pitch softball with his wicked left-hand pitch but enjoyed all competitive endeavors that came his way even when they ended with a broken bone or injury. Pain made every story more interesting to revel in. Paul had a joy for life and a mind full of poetry and limericks that he would share whenever the urge would strike. He held dear the home on Sterling Road. The hours spent in his garden, years of boiling maple syrup, countless parties, volleyball tournaments, euchre games and family milestones celebrated there were precious memories for him. Paul particularly treasured his grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Adelaide and Eliza, who were the light of his life. He never hesitated to slip them a five, brag a bit about them or go toe-to-toe with an umpire if he felt they were wronged. Paul enjoyed an abundance of family, friends and colleagues in his lifetime, and he will be forever missed. He is survived by his wife Linda (Allen), sons Sam and Ben (Elena) of Creston, daughter Barbara (John) of Wadsworth, grandchildren Hunter (Aleena) Shue, Hailey (Joe) Stephey, Adelaide and Eliza Kinney and great-grandchildren Piper and Boone. He is also survived by sisters Ann (Joe) Howell, Michelle (John) Cole, sisters-in-law Phyllis (Don) Hanzie and Jean (Robert) Poiner and brothers Phil (Diane) Shue and Greg (Chris) Shue as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Those who wish to honor Paul may attend a service at, or donate to First Baptist Church of Seville, 22 E Main St, Seville, OH 44273.
