Patricia A. Mccourt

Patricia A. McCourt, 87, of Waterford, Ohio  and formerly Creston, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday August 1, 2021 in the arms of her daughter.

Patsy was born July 7,1934 in Sterling, OH to the late John and Edna (Perrin) Viall and married Major R. McCourt on Oct. 2,1954. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2019.

She graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1952, and was responsible for organizing their class reunions along with assisting the Creston Alumni Committee for reunions until 2004.

In 1997, Pat retired from Westfield Companies with over 28 years of service. She then went on to work for the Village of Creston as the Mayor's Court Clerk, finally retiring in 2004 to her retirement home in Waterford.

Pat was certainly a dedicated humanitarian, philanthropist and kind hearted volunteer whose generosity was never ending. She was an exceptional organizer her whole life planning and helping special events come to fruition such as, the annual Fish Fry & Ox Roast, as well as, managing the youth bowling league at Town & Country Lanes for years where she was known as “Grandma” to all the kids. In 1995 she was honored with Creston’s “Citizen of the Year” Award which she was so proud of. Pat dearly loved Creston and will remain there forever. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Surviving are her daughters, Beth (Ted) Schwertfeger and Debra McCourt; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Wacker, Miranda Stahl and Jeremy (Miranda) Halpin; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Shianne, Lydia, Lillie and Dessie Wacker, Damarlea Skipper, Dravin Halpin and Austin Kinder; sisters, Loretta Scott and Carolyn (Jack) Houghton; brother, Jim (Nancy) Viall and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and her husband is a brother, Roy E. Viall and grandson, Andrew Halpin.

Private graveside services will be held at Maple Mound Cemetery in Creston. Pallbearers: Jeremy Halpin, Miranda Stahl, Matt and Brandon Wacker, Austin Kinder and David Rook.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
