Opal Pearl Rogers

Opal Pearl Rogers, 92, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Burbank Parke Care Center after a brief illness.

Opal was born on Nov. 9, 1930 in Laurel, WV to Robert Gay and Susie Maude (Lyons) Metheney and married Jack Rogers on April 27, 1956.  Jack preceded her in death on April 3, 2014 and they are together again.  Opal retired from Rubbermaid, Inc. on Dec. 31, 1990 having had 34 years of service to the Company.  Opal loved all sports but especially loved the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers and the infamous Browns.   She and Jack loved the beach and spent many wonderful times at their beach house in Frisco, NC.  They and the family made many beautiful memories of the times spent there and they had many wonderful adventures including going to the Daytona Five Hundred for several years.  Opal had made her home in Creston for the past 66 years and was a member of Creston Canaan United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her three daughter, Gerri Williams of Creston, Deb and her husband Durb Crumley of Wooster and Chris Hatten of Creston; grandchildren, Chris Figley, Jason Crumley, Joe (Justine) Crumley, David (Alycia) Hatten and Jack (Rachel) Hatten; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Sara Figley, Avery, Caydance, Drake, Fallon, Zander and Miles Crumley and Bub and Alyce Hatten; a great great-grandson, Luca; a sister, Virginia Cook of Ivydale, WV and her best friend, Leona Bowman of Wooster.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; granddaughter, Stacie Figley, grandson, Justin Crumley, sisters, Sylvia Butler and Vina Murphy, and brothers, Russell Metheney and Tedroe Metheney.

Services will be Tuesday, March 21st at 12:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Lori Burdette-Steele officiating.  Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Creston-Canaan United Methodist Church, PO Box 1111, Creston, OH 44217.  The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Burbank Parke and to Jenna  for the wonderful care given to Opal.
