Nyle Stanley Skaggs

January 15, 1936 — July 11, 2018

Nyle Stanley Skaggs, 82, of Wooster finished his earthly course on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at home after a brief illness with pancreatic cancer.

Nyle was born Jan. 15, 1936 in Edmond, WV to the late Weston and Eva (Holliday) Skaggs and was raised by his father and step-mother, Lorena after his mother’s early death. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 – 1958 and married the former Janice Swartz on July 20, 1957 while serving in the Navy. Together he and Jan shared over 60 wonderful years together. He retired in 1996 from Rubbermaid Inc. after 36 years of service and later transported Amish in the Fredericksburg area for 20 years. A resident of Fredericksburg most of his life, he had served on the Fredericksburg Town Council and was a member and past president of the Fredericksburg Ruritan. Nyle enjoyed woodworking and doing landscaping and yard work and together he and Jan enjoyed traveling, attending church and spending time with their family. Nyle attended NorthLife Baptist Church in Wooster and as a faithful follower of Christ, he set a consistent example for his family of remaining true to his Lord and Savior and to His Word to the very end of his life.

Surviving are his wife, Jan; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Cindy Skaggs of Greenville, SC, Keith and Diana Skaggs of Rio Rancho, NM , Eric and Aimee Skaggs of Wooster and Joel and Betsy Skaggs of Wooster; 16 grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin (Allison), Kristie, Jason, Caleb, Weston (Amy), Bethany, Seth, Irina, Jonah, Daniel, Lindsey, Lauren, Luke, Caitlin and Maggie; 2 great-grandchildren, Paisley and Boaz; a brother, Leo Skaggs of Huntington, WV and a sister, Karen Johnson of League City, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edwin and an infant brother.

Services will be Monday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m. at NorthLIfe Baptist Church, 2437 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster with Pastors Tom Nye and Harley Snode officiating. Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.
