Norma Jean Lance, 96, of Creston, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, after a brief illness.

Norma was born on March 1, 1930, in Lodi to Jacob and Hilda (Veney) Yoder and was a 1948 graduate of Creston High School. On Aug. 8, 1950, she married Jack E. Lance, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 1980. Norma had worked at the Ohio Box Board and Hanzie Meats and for many years did home cleaning. She was a member of Sterling United Methodist Church and had bowled on several bowling leagues over the years. Norma enjoyed watching Norwayne Basketball and playing cards.

Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Randy and Sandi Lance of Sugarcreek, Jackie and Larry Morrison of Rittman and Tina and Floyd Fawcett of Smithville; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Robert Marty of Sterling; nieces and nephews and special friends, Frank Watkins, Violet Robinosn and Jeanne Weahry.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters, Loretta Marty and Peggy Kauf; brother, Gary Yoder and a great-grandson.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Aug. 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Don Trigg officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
