Norene Frances Tokar

Norene Frances Tokar, 76, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021.

Norene was born on Oct. 25, 1944 in Garfield Heights to the late Henry and Irene (Wisch) Kowicki and was raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Frances Wisch.  She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Alexis School of Nursing and later from Cleveland State with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.  Over her career, she worked at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Metro Health, Visiting Nurse Services and retired from Cuyahoga County Board of Health.  On March 12, 1966 she married Michael D. Tokar at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Parma and they raised their family and made their home in the Parma and North Royalton area until moving to Wooster in 2015 where she became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  Norene was passionate about health care and in her retirement helped establish the Wooster Community Hospital Foundation’s Pulse Oximeter Fund.  She will be remembered for her gift to gab and her desire for everyone to be loved and happy.  She will be missed by her loving family, her grandkids, who were her life, and her lifelong friends.

Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Mike; children and their spouses, Andrea and Mark Russell of Wooster, Cindy and Todd Turk of Cleveland and Michael T. and Jackaye Tokar of Bellville; grandchildren, Shawna Russell, Madison Turk and Michael C. Tokar and her cat, Cinnamon.

A brother, Harry Eidan and a sister, Claudia Bulkowski preceded her in death.

A family graveside service will be held on Friday at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster with Father Rich Samide officiating.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wooster Community Hospital Foundation’s Pulse Oximeter Fund, 1761 Beall Ave., Wooster, OH 44691 in Norene’s memory.
