Nancy Lee Kouns, 81, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at Burbank Parke Care Center after a period of declining health.
Nancy was born on Sept. 16, 1943 in Edwight, WV to George and Gladys (Brown) McBrayer. On Dec. 24., 1960 she married Joseph Perry “JP” Kouns and they had made their home in Cleveland prior to moving to Creston in 1998. Nancy had worked at NASA in Cleveland, at the Spring Valley Christian School and later at the Dress Barn. She was a member of Canaan Free Will Baptist Church. Nancy loved caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her three children, Tammy and Greg Cox of Seville, Brian and Barb Kouns of Stow and Brett Kouns and Tanya Estepp of Grafton; 6 grandchildren, Brittany and her husband Bryan Erdman, Jarrod Cox and his fiancé, Breana Geiser, Michael Kouns, Joe Kouns, Stephanie Kouns and Jacob Kouns; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Mikayla and Kamirah and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jerry Wiley of Mullens, WV.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, JP on Jan, 4, 2025, infant grandson, Trevor Cox; her parents and brothers, George and his wife Barb McBrayer and Thomas McBrayer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Canaan Free Will Baptist Church, 12723 Cleveland Road, Creston with Pastors Aaron Bailey and James McComas officiating. Burial will follow at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 28th from 4-7 p.m. at the Canaan Free Will Baptist Church.
