Murrelene Drake

Alice Murrelene Drake, 90, of Creston, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Murrelene was born on Dec. 20, 1935, in Stinson, WV to Henry Rentis and Effie (Shaffer) Jarvis. She graduated from Grantsville High School and on Dec. 22, 1955, she married Herschel Hugh “Buster” Drake. They made their home in Creston for the past 70 years and Murrelene had worked at LaReins’s Market in Creston and as an Avon Manager for over 20 years. Murrelene was known for her style and fashion, and she enjoyed decorating her home and landscaping her yard and gardens.

Surviving is her husband, Buster; her son, Ronnie Drake; tow grandchildren, Rodney and Tiffany and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters and brothers, Eula Rader, Birdie Metheney, Vance, Denver, Harold, Gene, Lester, Dale, Spencer and Jennings Jarvis.

Services will be Monday, Sept. 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
