Michael D. Wilson

Michael David Wilson, 73, of Creston, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022 after a battle with cancer.

Mike was born in Canton on Nov. 14, 1948 and was the son of the late Frank R. and Eleanor “Sue” (Armstrong) Wilson.  He graduated from Norwayne High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.  On Feb. 14, 1970 he married Vikki L. Daugherty and she survives.  Mike retired from Shantz Cartage and had previously driven for Consolidated Freight.   He had made his home in Canaan Township all of his life where he enjoyed farming.  He was a member of the Creston Moose Lodge, the American Legion and was a Minneapolis Moline enthusiast.  Remembered for his gift to gab, Mike never met a stranger that he couldn’t talk to.

Surviving are his wife, Vikki; his 3 daughters, Casey and Aaron DeVanna of Athens, Michel Wilson and Terrence Austin of Wooster and Janella Wilson and Kyle Morris of Wooster; 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Kirsten, Harley, Zachary, Izabell, Kaylee, Mylee and Roland; his great-grandson, Aiden who was his pride and joy; sisters, Emily and Robert Hookway of Creston and Jane and David Phelps of Ashville, NC and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kelli K. Wilson in 2019; a grandson, Joshua; a brother, Pat Wilson and a sister Sharon Bodager.
