Marylin L. (Gee) Lape

Marylin L. Lape, 84, of Rittman, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 at Summa Barberton Hospital after a brief time of declining health.

Marylin was born on Sept. 30, 1938 in Akron to Willard A. and Ila (Rhodes) Gee and married Reginald J. Lape on Aug. 18, 1973.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and others and her grandchildren always brightened her day.  She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and she was a member of Good News Baptist Church in Smithville.  Marylin had made her home in Rittman for the past 50 years.

Surviving is her husband, Reginald; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Toni Smith of Rittman; grandchildren, Douglas Smith Jr. of Wadsworth, Daniel Smith of Barberton and Jessica Smith of Wadsworth; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Karen Davis of Florida.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Smith and her parents.

There will be a celebration of life services to be held at a later date with interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
