Mary Jane Sax, 76, of Lodi, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 at the Justin Rogers Hospice Center in Akron after a brief battle with cancer.
Mary was born on May 29, 1947 in Addison Michigan to LaVere and Louise (Steveson) Wheaton and graduated from Cement City High School. She met Willis P. Sax while working at Willow Lake Truck Stop and they were married on Aug. 22, 1970. She had worked at Nicodemus Cleaners and at Cleveland Clinic Lodi Hospital as a cook. Mary enjoyed camping, Sudoku puzzles and bowling and was the Second Vice-President of the Medina USBC WBA.
She is survived by her sister, Norma (Thomas) Heator of Michigan; son, Scott Sax; daughter Kristen Sax; adopted daughter, Angela Kinney; step-daughters, Susan Kelly and Tammi Sax; grandchildren, Tiffany (Michael) Fuller, Taylor Kelly, Cody (Stacey) Sax, Scott Sax, II, Zoe (Kyle Lamson) Riddle and Justin Riddle; great-grandchildren, Graham Kelly, Lucas Kelly, Scarlett Kelly, Kaylynn Sax, Mariah Sax and Kayleigh Kelly and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie on March 27, 2018, her parents, brother, William (Carol) Wheaton, sister, Marjean (Gary) Fish, her in-laws, Mille and Carl Sax, sister-in-law, Barbara Harris and granddaughter, Stevei Nicole Lynn Jeffery.
Services will be Saturday, Dec. 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, Dec. 15th from 5-8 p.m.at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Justin Rogers Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
