Mary Jeanne Schafrath

Mary Jeanne Schafrath, 87, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a brief illness. She was born July 18, 1929 in Dalton to the late Daniel B. and Fannie Elizabeth (Zaugg) Amstutz and was a 1948 graduate of Dalton High School. Mary Jeanne had worked at Freedlanders and at Loaves and Fishes and had made her home in Wayne County area all of her life. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Pittsburg where she sang in the choir and was a member of Flora Lynn Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her roses and being with her family. Surviving are her children, Esther Elizabeth “Beth" Schertz, Deborah Yockey and Joyce Heitger all of Wooster and Joseph (Susan) Graber of Creston; grandchildren, James, Marie, Joshua, Israel, Don, September, Anton, Craig, Eddie, Eileen, Tracelia, Benjamin and Holly; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Duane (Marie) Amstutz of Dalton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Terranova on Aug. 5, 1972, a daughter, Kathryn Graber; an infant great-great-granddaughter, brothers, Clayton and Clarence “Jim” and sisters, Anna, Ella, Pauline, Leona, Emma, Arlene and Laverne. A celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, Feb. 4th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 9451 Ashland Rd, Wooster with Pastor Tina Heise officiating. A private family burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sterling. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.
