Mary Kathryn Boss

Mary Kathryn Boss, 89, of Shreve passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.

Mary was born in Barbour County, WV on July 6, 1937, to Ferman and Martha Gladys (England) Johnson and was a 1955 graduate of Westfield High School. On Nov. 3, 1961 she married Neal Leroy Boss who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2012. Mary had worked at Ohio Farmers Insurance Company for 9 years, then drove bus for Norwayne Local Schools for 18 years. She later was a bus driver and then a Supervisor at Nick Amster/Ida Sue Schools where she worked for 12 years and had also served as the Clerk of Milton Township for 16 years. She was a member of the former Grace Brethren Church in Sterling and had attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church. Mary’s grandchildren were her life and her greatest enjoyment.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Jeff Ray of Fredericktown and Karen and Dale Miller of Shreve; grandchildren, Danyell Findling, Dustin Shaw, Brent Miller and Branden Miller; great-grandchildren, Jensen, Jamisen, Jackson Dakota, Emmett, Landon and Dutton and a sister, Marilyn Johnson of Creston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal; her parents a brother, Willard Johnson and a sister, Martha Porter.

Services will be Tuesday, July 21st at 12:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Mary and Neal will be interred together at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.
