Martha L. Holiday, 78, of Creston, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Burbank Parke Nursing Center after a period of declining health.
Martha was born July 17, 1939 in Cameron, OH to the late George and Arminda Mae (Moore) Vaness and married Luther J. Holiday on Oct. 18, 1958. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1993. She had made her home in Creston for the past 51 years and was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ. Marty loved her family and always put their needs ahead of her own. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends on her Stebbins St. porch and was a great Elvis fan. She will be remembered for her love of pets, for being a giver to anyone in need and for being a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Rose Patrick of Wooster, Carolyn (Glen) Wilmoth of Creston, Ralph (Crystal) Holiday of Creston, Bonnie (Tim Tanner) Sherry of West Salem, David Holiday of the home, Shirley Holiday of Wadsworth and Luther (Erica) Holiday Jr. of Shreve; 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray and Ralph Vaness both Rittman and Boyd Vaness of Cameron;sisters, Gladys Mowery of Cameron and Sylvia Hoke of Beallsville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Russell, her nephew, Carl Vanness and 12 brothers and sisters.
Services will be Thursday, April 26th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cameron Church of Christ with Rev. Jerry Hackworth officiating. Burial will be in the Cameron Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
