Martha Rochelle Cottrell

Martha “MawMaw” Rochelle Cottrell, 84, of Seville passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2026.

Rochelle was born on January 6, 1942, in Haysi, Virginia to Auty and Alyssa (Beulah) Owens. She married Richard Gallatin on July 2, 1968, and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing on June 26, 1985. Rochelle worked at Nabisco for 33 years and at Michael Days Plastic Factory for 9 years and was apart both companies quality control teams. In 1995 Rochelle married Wayne Cottrell and they shared 12 years together until his passing on September 6, 2007. Rochelle loved to do word searches and had most recently gone to church at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Family was very important to Rochelle, and she will be remembered as the caretaker who always cared for everyone in the family.

Rochelle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Dobber Tackett; step-daughters, Cheryl Haley and Jo Szymczak; grandchildren, Heather (Dan) Light, Allison (Derec) Light, Katelyn Tackett, Bryson Tackett, and Brittany MaHaley; great grandchildren, Kateri, Lavinia, Dexter, Hudson, and Harper; brothers and sisters, Janice Carter, Sadie (Danny) Shortridge, Ricky (Edie) Owens, Sunny (Nancy) Owens, Dennis (Connie) Owens, Sandy (Morris) Barton, Kate Flemming, Jennifer (Chuck) Potter and Judith Lyall (Chris Horn); and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s, Richard Gallatin and Wayne Cottrell, daughter, Lisa Gallatin, stepchildren, Carl, Alan, and Ruth, brothers, Ural and David Owens, and brother-in-laws, Perry Carter and Gary Flemming.

There will be a private calling hour with family and close friends invited. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HMC Hospice of Medina County.
