Marlene D. Wiles, 88, of Lodi, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025.
Marlene was born on Nov. 6, 1936 in Rittman to Joseph S. and Adra (Shook) Cabell. She grew up in Creston and graduated with the first class of Norwayne High School in 1954. On Dec. 16, 1955, she married Herbert Wiles Sr. who preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2016. Marlene had been the assistant clerk for 17 years for the Village of Lodi and had been a foster mother to many infants and children over the years. She was active in T.O.P.S. and K.O.P.S. and an avid collector of Depression glass, Fenton Glass, Snowbabies, Campbell’s Soup memorabilia, Kewpie dolls, all things penguins and the list goes on. Through her collections, she became a member of the Snowbabies Friendships Club, Campbell’s Collectors international and American Collectors of Infant Feeders Club. Marlene spent many nights at area racetracks with Herb and his stock cars.
Surviving are her children, Christi and her husband Bob Meyer of Lodi, Herb Jr. and his wife Pam Wiles of Sullivan and Keith Wiles of Brook Park; 16 grandchildren, Damon (Caroline), Lindsay (Chad), Josh, Evan (Joey), Jeremy (Vanessa), Aaron (Anna), Zech (Cheryl), Jennifer (Codie), Tiffany, Herb (Anna), Mike, Becki, Karl (Pam), Kris, Nathan and Jaiden (Alex); great-grandchildren, Paul, Silas, Magali, Benji, Charlie, Libby, Grace, Hannah, Noah, Leila, Herbie IV, Alex, Landon, Maddie, Kierston, Tilly, Ganon, Liam, Cash, Leona, Ivy, Hazel, Myah, Jadan, Mason, Zack, Solomon and Noah and a sister, Judy Watts of Creston.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; daughter, Shelly Underwood Woosnam Ames; grandson, Ryan Wiles, her parents and sisters, Barbara Richings and Carolyn Pamer.
Services will be Saturday, Feb. 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with her son-in-law, Pastor Bob Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Canaan Cemetery.
