Marcia Ann (Haney) Amheiser

Our dear mother Marcia A. Amheiser, 86, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022. Marcy was born on Aug. 14, 1936 in Dalton, OH to Elmer and Josephine (Edwards) Haney.  She graduated from Dalton High School in 1954 with her life long girl friends of over 80 years who were like sisters to her.  She later graduated from Ashland College and had taught at Cloverleaf Elementary School and later taught at Mount Vernon Developmental Center which she retired from in 2006 at the age of 70. Marcy was also a volunteer at the Red Cross, New Directions, was a Big Sister, Den Mother and had taught swimming.  She was a member of the Lions Club,  attended Sew & Sows of Apple Valley where she had made her home and enjoyed boating, cooking, entertaining and spending time with family and friends.  She was a gracious and fun loving host to many guests of all her family. Surviving are her children, Wendy Merhib of Bartlesville, OK, Jeff (Karen) Walter of Wadsworth and Todd Walter of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren Kennedy, Dominick and Jamie, step-children, Mike Amheiser, Doug Amheiser and Rhonda Kern and a sister, Sonja Bender of Tucson, AZ, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Amheiser in 1981 and her parents. A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held in the summer of 2023.  Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
