Leonard Lancy Pertee, Jr., 80, of Smithville, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 18, 2022.
Born in Bull Creek, WV on Sept. 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Leonard L. Sr. and Elizabeth (Evans) Pertee. He had made his home in the Smithville area most of his life and had worked at the Packaging Corp. of America in Rittman. Junior enjoyed music, singing and playing a tune on his guitar or banjo, fishing, cheering on the Cleveland sports teams, the Cincinnati Reds and being surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of the Orrville Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Marcum) Pertee; children, Danny (Jayne) Young of Wooster, Doug Young of Smithville, James (Yvonne) Pertee of South Gate, MI, Rodney Pertee of Smithville, Tony (Selena) Pertee of Wooster, Richard (Mae) Gilkerson of Wayne, WV, Elva (Arthur) Cassidy of Sevierville, TN and Melissa (Scott) Marcum of New London ; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Carolyn) Pertee of Smithville, Michael (Janice) Pertee of Akron and Robert Pertee of Rittman; sisters, Ellen Morris of Wooster and Joyce (Jerry) Bowers of FL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye (Morris) Pertee on Aug. 9, 2011; his parents, brothers, James “Abby” and Thomas “Tommy” Pertee; sister, Phyllis Rastorfer and brothers-in-law, Vendal Morris and Richard Rastorfer, Sr.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd from 1-3 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where preacher Chuck Hopkins will conduct services at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be Wednesday at Rittman Cemetery.
