Leo Glen “Shorty” Murphy, 84, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Clay, West Virginia on April 9, 1939 to Paul and Margaret (Duffy) Murphy and married Sandra Siers on June 11, 1966. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in 2004 after 47 years of service and was a member of Auto Workers Union Local 1250. Shorty enjoyed fishing, hunting, working jigsaw puzzles, watching motor sport and he liked working on engines from lawn mowers to cars. He had made his home in Creston for the past 54 years.
Surviving is his wife, Sandy; children, Jeanette “Janie” Murphy of Chillicothe and Paul and his wife Beth Murphy of Wooster; his granddaughter, Stella Murphy and a sister-in-law, Sue Calvert of Lost Creek, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob and Roscoe and a sister, Lorena Burrows.
Services will be Friday, July 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Jim Newton officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691. The family would like to thank his medical team at the Cleveland Clinic for their excellent care.
