Larry L. Landis

Larry L. Landis, 83, of Seville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at Akron City Hospital after a recent fall. Larry was born Jan. 14, 1938 in Akron to the late William Earl and Minnie Mae (Turnbaugh) Landis and was a 1956 graduate of Kenmore High School.  On May 27, 1960 he married the former Edythe Irene Daily and she survives.  Larry started out in the warehouse at Jaffe Shoes in Akron and worked his way up to Vice President. When the company moved to Seville, Larry moved his family to Seville which has been home since 1973.  Larry worked as a realtor for Barbara Wilson for 20+ years retiring in 2019. Active in the Seville Community, Larry served on Council for many years and was Mayor for a brief time and was a police officer for a couple of years.  Currently he was serving on the Board of Public Affairs.  He was a member of the Seville United Methodist Church and the Seville Masonic Lodge #74 F.&A.M.  Larry was an avid golfer, bowler and loved sports.  He enjoyed playing cards and his greatest highlight was playing in the Senior World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Surviving is his wife, Edythe of 61 years, his children and their spouses, Jane and Dave Kauf of Seville, Michele and Jeff Miner of Creston and Mike and Kara Landis of Medina; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde “Bill” and Peggy Landis of Lancaster, CA and sisters, Patricia Hoover of Oak Isle, NC and Nona Landis of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Larry, II in 2019 and a brother-in-law, Dave Hoover. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends will be received from 1:00 until time of services.  The family requests that everyone please wear a mask.  A family interment will be held at Seville Mound Hill Cemetery.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to the Village of Seville Parks, 120 Royal Crest Dr., Seville, OH 44273.
