Kyle Dean Yoder, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 4, 2026 while working at Holmes District 1 Fire Station.
Kyle was born in Wooster on Jan. 25, 1977, to Mose A. and Betty A. Yoder and was a 1995 graduate of Waynedale High School and the Wayne County Career Center where he was in the Machine Trades Program. He graduated from Stark State Fire Academy and then completed his Paramedic Training at Aultman Hospital. Kyle served as a Fire-fighter/Paramedic at Prairie Township Fire Dept. from 1995-2018 where he had been a Lieutenant and Assistance Chief. From 1998 until the present, he served at Holmes District 1 Fire Station where he had been a Lieutenant and Assistant Chief as well as the Department Chief. Since 2009 he has been a Full-time Fire-fighter/Paramedic at Holmes District 1. Kyle was also a Fire Safety Inspector and had worked part-time at Feikert Sand and Gravel.
Kyle enjoyed fishing and vacations at the beach. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan as well as a Jamey Johnson Country Music fan. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and his many friends that he made over the years in the Fire and EMS service.
Surviving is his daughter, Emily Brooke Yoder of Wooster and her mother, Amanda Schmid; his fiancé’ Samantha Whitworth and her daughter Lucy of Coshocton; his father, Mose A. Yoder of Holmesville,; brother, Kevin Yoder and his fiancé’ Julie Beachy of Stone Creek; sister and brother-in-law, Kara and Wes Hochstetler of Sarasota, FL; nieces, Shelby and Megan Hochstetler and great-nephew, Ky’Aire.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty.
Services will be Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Harvest Ridge Event Center at the Holmes County Fair Grounds with Chaplain Curt Stauffer officiating. Burial will be in New Life Fellowship Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, July 10th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Harvest Ridge Event Center. Muray Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
