Kenneth Eugene Tyson, 77, of Wooster, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Wooster Community Hospital after a period of declining health.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1945 in Wooster to the late Harvey and Bertha (McAfee) Tyson and was a 1963 graduate of Wooster High School. He excelled in Football, Wrestling and Track and was inducted in the Wooster Sport Hall of Fame. On April 20, 1968 he married Carol A. Shepherd and she preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2011. Ken served in the Army Reserves and had worked and was Vice President of Barney Lehman’s in Wooster and later worked at Freedlander’s in Wooster where he was in charge of the Men’s Dept. He was an avid sports fan, having followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs. Ken loved being outdoors and he enjoyed his Hot Rods. His grandkids were his life and Ken will be remembered for being a good dresser with perfect hair.
Surviving are his daughters, Kimberly (Tony) Sobchik and Kelli Ball both of Wooster; grandchildren, Andrew and Tyson Sobchik, and Athena and Savannah Ball; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Kyra, Miles and Calieb; a sister, Bonnie (Chuck) Malcuit of Fredericksburg and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, his parents, a grandson, Tony Sobchik, III and a sister, Shirley Henderson.
